Cambridge
Cambridge is often known as “The city of squares” because of the number of squares that the city has that include Harvard, Inman, Central and Kendall Squares. Each is distinct in their own personality while they all offer various services for their residents from shopping to dining.
Located on the north side of the Charles River, Cambridge is home to some of the most prestigious schools including Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. For this, Cambridge is well known around the world.
It was in the 1980’s when companies particularly in the tech industry started to play a large role in the popularity of Cambridge. Firms like Lotus opened up shop there and were followed years after by biotech firms including Genzyme, Biogen and Novartis. Nowadays, the Kendall Square area is home to many more tech companies including Google, Microsoft and Amazon.
