Downtown

Downtown Crossing is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the country dating back to the 17th century. It wasn’t until the 19th century that the area had emerged as a retail center with the opening of the flagship store of Filene’s. The once Beaux Arts building stood at the current site of what is now home to the Millennium Tower.

Bostonians would typically refer to the Downtown Crossing neighborhood as being a busy daytime district with shopping, business and industry and a quieter area at night. However, today the Downtown and Midtown neighborhoods are not only replete with businesses, but are becoming popular residential areas with several buildings being constructed.

The close proximity to Back Bay’s shopping, The beautiful Boston Common, Beacon Hill, Financial District and just a handful of blocks to the water make for a prime location.
